Why Recessed Downlights?
Recessed downlights create a sleek, unobtrusive ceiling line. With no visible fixture protruding below the ceiling plane, they're ideal for minimalist interiors, low ceilings, and spaces where you want the architecture, not the lighting, to be the focal point. They work equally well as general ambient lighting or as focused task lighting depending on the beam angle and placement.
Choosing the Right Downlight
Key considerations include cutout size (the hole diameter in your ceiling), beam angle (narrow spot for accent lighting, wide flood for general illumination), colour temperature (warm 3000K for living spaces, neutral 4000K for kitchens and offices), and IP rating if used in bathrooms or covered outdoor areas. Our range includes fixed and adjustable options, with wattages from 5W to 18W.
Installation & Ceiling Requirements
Recessed downlights require a false ceiling with adequate depth, typically 70mm to 120mm depending on the fixture. For concrete ceilings without a false ceiling, consider our surface-mounted alternatives. We recommend planning downlight positions during the renovation stage to coordinate with your contractor and electrician.
